Extra spaces being added before html code for forms

  • How can I isolate this problem and make it go away? I believe the problem is not with the code that I am inserting but with what TinyMCE (or some thing else) is doing to the code once it’s pasted. Under Settings, I do not have a TinyMCE Advanced option, which where I have read that this can be adjusted (in a post from six years ago!). Why not? What else can I do? Thanks.

    But, it seems I am mistaken about what the problem is because TinyMCE only applies to editing in widgets, and I am having the same problem not only in widgets but also on my website pages. Any ideas what could be adding these extra spaces that don’t show up in the html (as far as I can see) but affect the formatting?
