• Hey wordpress, media manager has some great new features, but one area where it absolutely sucks! Adding a featured image after creating a gallery. In 3.4 and before I could set the feature image, than insert the gallery. Now I insert the gallery and have to reopen the media manager to set the feature image. This extra step often leads to me forgetting to set the feature image.

Also I don`t want to see my entire media library on every post. Perhaps ad a feature to toggle ”view all media” rather than having this the default or only option.

  • Amazing that this wasn’t noticed in the beta testing. – Perhaps there should be a checkbox in the media manager to specify the current active image as the Featured Image?

I doubt it is very common to have a featured image that is not also an image already in the post, but that can be addressed by clicking the Featured Image link block in the right column.

I totally agree with the topic starter plus I think it′s save to say that it changed from a so so media manager to a ridiculous media manager. Was this change invented by somebody that hates managing media in wordpress? Just curious.

    +1!

I loved being able to click “set featured image” and then immediately click “Insert into Post.” It was ONE CLICK and no waiting to set the featured image.

Now it requires clicking on “set featured image” in the editor box, opening the media manager and waiting for it to load a ton of thumbnails, then selecting the image I just uploaded (when I added it to my post), and then clicking the “inset” link, all the way on the other side of the screen.

Any way to go back to the old method, without rolling back to 3.4.2 ?

I don’t think there is a way of rolling back. Just keeping my fingers crossed that they fix this in the next release.

Another feature I would also like to see is to be able to view the meta tag keywords, and sort the complete gallery by keywords.

I’ve written about 20 articles for a news website in the last week and initially forgot to set the featured image on about one-third of them. I do actually like the new media manager generally, but the fact that you have to open it twice just to do a simple task is a step down from the old thickbox.

Will someone help me, please. I cannot post the feature image no matter what I try. As mentioned by another member, I can see the image in the Media library, but cannot set it as a feature image. I have been able to do this in the past….HELP…..!!!!!

I also have same problem. I can see this pics in Media. There are about 30pictures, but when I click “Set featured image” I see only 6 pictures. Only old-one.
    Will someone help me, please?
