Extreme resources usage on a VPS

    It’s been a few days I’m trying to debug this website, it’s using too many resources, it’s on a VPS XL from Ionos, 4cores, 8gb ram, 160gb hd.

    When a bit of traffic comes in everything spikes to full making the site unusable, front and back. There about 1400+ users but problems start about 150 users simultaneously on the website.

    I’ve tried everything, php memory limit is at 2048M because 512M was causing out-of-memory errors.

    I’ve enabled Opcache with some average settings found online, wp-optimizer on wordpress

    I tried deactivating everything and changed theme, it changes a bit but I need to make it work with this setup.

    Orders are still coming but it’s almost impossibile for the staff to work on the backend

    I’m also using usageDD that’s showing me queries and the total weight of the pages.
    We’re about 860M both back and front across all pages, about 200-220~ queries for homepage and 160-190~ for the others

    I’m trying to use Gmetrix but it’s failing because these problems.

    I understand the usage of CPU is very high on your site, also I’ve read you have tried a lot of things looking for a solution.

    As a first step, a good point to start is to perform a conflict test, You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.

    It is important also to reach out to your host, they will be able to check if something is not running properly on your site.

    Deleting transients and another bunch of strings from an old website in wp_options solved the problem. The memory usage went from 860M to 40M

    Bless this mysql command:

    DELETE FROM wp_options WHERE
option_name LIKE '%_transient_%'

    That’s a huge difference:
    fffff

    The thing is that transients string keep reacreating increasing the size of wp_options thus increasing memory usage gradually. I still don’t know why this happens but at least I can contain the problem.

    I have what it seems a lot of duplicates in transients, these are some:
    there thousands of them, they keep reapeating somehow

    dghfgfhfhgfhgf

    This is wild

    The only thing I can think is some weird options in WP-Optimize, maybe some problem with the preload options, I’ve disabled it last night but still wp_options kept growing…
