• Thank you for breaking a functioning program. I am extremely frustrated with 5.0. First off I now have to click twice as many buttons to set-up a blog post. Half the features I would like to use are not offered on your stupid little blocks. On top of that, you have ruined the classic editor.

Every time I go to add a photo in the classic editor, it adds it to the top of the post not where I have clicked to add it meaning I now it takes me twice as long to add photos as before. This needs to be fixed.

In addition to this, you have removed the ability to upload photos directly to the media gallery without having them be added to the post meaning I have to go thru and waste time deleting photos from the stupid blocks so I can then waste time adding to the posts where I then have the issue I stated above.

I am frustrated I have to go add yet another plugin to get old features back, adding load time to my site.

You took something that wasn’t broke and broke it.

  • This is abolutely stupid update of wordpress 5.0 what is this? we can not use any visual composer or or any other composers! nigthmare!!!!

I feel your pain, and although I understand the rationale for upgrading the editor, this is simply not needed for my needs, or the needs of my community (academics / not techies etc).

Same here. I will begin next year by looking into classicpress for my clients. Migration of 2 clients was a desaster. They were pretty annoyed ??

What wordpress try to do ? this is really bad update. I use in my own website https://webfili.com can not use page now, I will downgrade to 4,9,8 back – otherwise website does not let me edititng

This is a known issue, and yes, it needs to be fixed. It only affects the Classic Block though.

Not true at all, and I’m not sure what you’re even referring to here. The Media handler hasn’t changed at all. You can upload photos in the media section, or while in a post, or half a dozen other ways. So, I’m not really sure what the issue you have here is.

Generally speaking, using the Classic Block is not the best experience. It’s only there for backward compatibility. Going forward, it is expected for you to use the editor natively, with blocks for each element instead of trying to cram the whole post into a single Classic Block.

Wow, I really appreciate how dismissive most of your response is to my comments and issues is on the recent update to your product.

I am glad to know that I AM IMAGINING this issue I am having. You basically accused me of lying about the problem I am having. Rather than actually trying to work with me to solve the problem so I wouldn’t be frustrated by it.

This is all well and good but how about including the ability to put lists in tables, changed the font colors in tables, remove the borders in tables, edit text logically in your “blocks.” Your new stupid little blocks are missing half the features I need and seem to take way longer than the previous version did to complete the same task.

Time is money and your new product was costing me money.

Overall, I guess my issues and opinions on your new product don’t matter based on your response to me. Half of my blogging support group is refusing to update to this new AWFUL product and the other half has updated and is either frustrated or have installed the classic plugin. Plus a few are exploring new options to replace WordPress (I will let them try a few then let me know which one is the best option).

Wow, I really appreciate how dismissive most of your response is to my comments and issues is on the recent update to your product.

I was not dismissing you, I was telling you that at least part of your post is factually incorrect.

You stated “you have removed the ability to upload photos directly to the media gallery”. This is not true. The Media menu still exists, and the Add New item still exists there.

You can upload media items, including photos directly to the media gallery outside of the post editor.

This is all well and good but how about including the ability to put lists in tables, changed the font colors in tables, remove the borders in tables, edit text logically in your “blocks.”

Fair enough, and I don’t doubt that some features from the old editor are harder to find or even non-existent in the new blocks for them. Color selection for individual text pieces are one that I know are missing for sure, because it was decided to leave them out of the first version.

However, if you want to write your own HTML, or modify things in a more direct manner, or even use the old editor for just one section of your post, then there are options to go directly to the HTML of individual blocks, or use the Code View to edit the whole thing, or use the Classic Block for just that one piece that you preferred the old editing experience for. Using the Blocks as a whole gives you more options for how to arrange and edit your content, not less.

And if you still can’t adjust, then the Classic Editor plugin exists for you as well.

Wow, I really appreciate how dismissive most of your response is to my comments and issues is on the recent update to your product.

    You are right.

There seems to be a misunderstanding of what posting something under “feedback” means. We, the users, use it to show what we appreciate or not appreciate. And we expect at least an “okay”.

But the answers we get fall all under tech support. And the only viable solution in all feedback is to fix the human that uses WordPress. That works for me but that does not work for those average-joe clients that love WordPress for simplicity. I cannot tell them they basically too stupid to appreciate the newfound simplicity.

Again you are dismissing my comments and the issues I am having. I am your PAYING CUSTOMER. I am having an issue and rather than taking my feedback and passing it on or asking for more information so you can understand the issue I am having, you just tell me “I am factually incorrect.” You seriously SUCK at customer service and troubleshooting. At this point, you have made it clear that you are more concerned about DEFENDING your stupid update that the ISSUES YOUR CUSTOMERS are having.

YOUR PRIORITIES ARE WRONG! I am the one paying for your product and I am very unhappy about having to use a plugin to go revert my CMS back to a useable form. This is not how you keep customers happy and continuing to pay to use your service.

I am all for improvements and upgrades but releasing a product where you know its missing features and other features that are super hard to find isn’t beyond idiotic. Based on the moderator’s responses like yours, WordPress released a subpar product and then is upset they got negative feedback on it and don’t want or care about the issues.

You can upload media items, including photos directly to the media gallery outside of the post editor.

Oh yea, by the way, this is the issue I am having with the media gallery. Every time I drag a photo in, they go into a stupid block that I then have to go in a delete rather than just uploading to the media gallery to await me putting the photos where I want them.

THE MEDIA GALLEY NO LONGER WORKS THE WAY IT USED TO AND IS COSTING MORE TIME THAN IT IS WORTH.

Again you are dismissing my comments and the issues I am having. I am your PAYING CUSTOMER.

No, actually, you are not. WordPress is completely free software. You didn’t pay me, or WordPress, anything at all.

WordPress is open source software. It is free to use by anybody, for any purpose. We don’t charge for it.

WordPress also isn’t a company. You cannot pay them money, because there is no “them” to pay money to.

So, while your feedback is appreciated, understand that you are not our “customer” and so we’re perfectly free to have a civil discussion with you about your feedback. This is a support forum, not a customer service center.

However, please try to keep the discussion civil. Attacking people in the way you just attacked me in your post will get you banned. If you were posting this sort of attack against anybody but me, then you’d be banned already.

Sounds like you might be using WordPress.com and not www.ads-software.com – They are different.

One is a paid service which hosts your site and one is a free open-source project you self-host.

Both use the same underlying technology. Unfortunatly the names are identical except for .org and .com and it creates enormous confusion. It’s all rather silly but unlikely to change.

Sorry to hear you’ve found the latest update painful. Good luck!

It sounds like you’re dragging the images into the new editor, which, yes, will make image blocks for them. If you’re editing an old post using the Classic Block, then this may not be what you expected to happen.

Try making a new post and using image blocks and paragraph blocks that way instead. Start with a blank slate. It’s easier to understand the editor and the block approach that way.

Alternatively, if you want to upload images without being in the post editor and having it make blocks for you, open a tab on the Media->Add New menu item. Here in the media library, you can upload your images directly and not have them attached to the post. Back in the post, you can select the images from the media library and place them where you like.
