Hi, my site afrikat.com has become almost inaccesible since 10 days. All plugins and WP are up to date. With all plugins deactivated the site is still very slow. Once you click the mouse for a certain action, both on the website and the cpanel, it takes a very long time before the server takes action. According to the hosting company the server is fine and the delay is within the database that tries to consult external urls which causes the delay. I am a bit stuck here, hopefully somebody can help…thanks

You could use https://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/I3XPz/afrikat.com to figure out what specific files are slowing down the website.

Took a few attempts because the site was so slow loading and the tool kept timing out.

I’m not sure that any of the files loaded by the website are the problem. Sure, you could slim the site down – it’s 2.9mb and that’s too big.

The big delay in loading your site seemed to be loading the initial page itself, not all the other files.

But why did they mention the database? A database doesn’t consult external urls, what did they mean?

Suggest you login to your hosting control panel and go to phpMyAdmin to check the size of your MySQL database. If it’s huge, which table is biggest?

If it’s not the database, I would (wild) guess this is “something” server related.

Hi, solved, there was 34kb image called social.png inside one of the folders which was causing all the trouble…thanks
