Facebook Chat Plugin slows website loading by almost 60%

Hi. With the changes that Google have recently implemented I’ve been concerned with the speed of our site. Currently it is considered very slow and from what i’ve read this means that our seo position will be negatively effected. We use Varnish, Lazy loaders, everything we can to speed up the site but a Lighthouse treemap has shown that the Facebook Chat plugin is accounting for 57% of the slowing of our site and is the main reason why it runs so slow. Is it bad coding? is there a way (other than not using it) to speed it up. Any assistance would be immensely appreciated.
