facebook excerpts suddenly destroyed

    I found the following new problem when posting links on facebook:

    till the 3rd of october, facebook-posts with links to a wp-post appear with a picture, title and the excerpt of the wp-post (mostly around 100 chars of the text)

    after that day, every post on facebook has strange text in front of the excerpt: parts of the main menu text, the category name and other stuff, I don’t want to see there.

    between the day before an after, we did not make any changes to the system. the only updates that have been installed, are the latest files of the cirrent wp-version.

    is this a known problem?

    If it was, we would very likely be seeing many other folks noting this issue. Could you please share a URL of a post you are trying to share so forum folks can review? That may help figuring it out.

    Yes, the Facebook Scraper does seem to be having trouble with your site. I suspect a plugin.

    It is showing a Description but there is no og:description meta tag. So it infers it from content…That description seems quite odd starting with “Start Service”.

    I would suspect a plugin, or conflicting plugins. Try re-submitting the url to the scraper after making sure whatever SEO solution is outputting proper og meta tags and other plugins are not interfering with that.

    first of all: thanks for your help! ??

    It was exactly like you supposed: the seo-plugin stopped to work overnights.

    after I asked their support and they said ‘we don’t have a problem’, I didn’t search at that end anymore.

    after changing the seo-tool, everything works fine now ..
