    Hello,

I am not sure if there is a recommended way to approach this or not, but since some services have different requirements for image dimensions, how could we specify a different image in a specific feed type?

    For example:

Google likes a 1080×1080 image in the merchant center

If you are running a Facebook single image ad the dimensions for that are 1200 X 628

I would prefer to upload an image which is formatted correctly for facebook or google if the main product image for some reason doesn’t match the aspect ratio or size.

I looked in the feed matching area for facebook and for the image_link (image_link) item, it defaults to “Main Image”, but there are several other image options in the dropdown box, such as as “Additional Image 1, 2, 3” etc… but I am not sure what those are mapped to and if its even possible to upload an image to one of those slots at the product / variation level.

Yoast SEO provides the option to specify a unique image for Facebook Opengraph, but I don’t see that as an option within the dropdown. Besides, even if it was, it wouldn’t work for variable products as you can only define that once in Yoast and its product wide.

As an aside to this inquiry, it has also led me to wonder, if I leave image_link (image_link) assigned to “Main Image” for a variable product, will it pull the image which is set at the variation level, or will it pull what is set at the parent product level?

    Any one with any ideas?

    Hi Chad,

Our default templates for Google Shopping and Facebook indeed map the image_link to the ‘Main image’ attribute as this is the most important image for most of our users.

What you could do is make sure to upload the images with the required sizes into the additional images 1/10 (standard WooCommerce attributes) and than link those to, for example for Facebook, image_link field. That should work just fine.

With regards to your last question. The plugin will get the variable product image.

Hope this helps, all the best

    Hi Eva,

Thanks for your reply. Where could I upload additional images 1/10? I do not recall seeing an area within a woocommerce product to do so…

    Thanks ??

It is the product gallery on the right side when you are editing a product.

    Best,
    Eva

I am going to close this issue now for housekeeping reasons. Please feel free to reach out again in-case you have more questions.

    All the best,
    Eva
