I’ve worked on adding a Facebook Like/Share button option in the past, and have been looking into it again for you, however there still doesn’t seem to be a very good solution, I’m afraid.
It’s easy to add the Like button itself inside Fancybox, however when clicked, the image that’s displayed on a user’s Facebook Wall/Timeline turns out as a randomly selected thumbnail from your gallery page…not the specific image displayed in the lightbox. The link from Facebook will also take your visitors to the gallery page of the specific image, and the link title and description on Facebook will also be scraped from the gallery page, not the image’s anchor attributes.
I’d like to add this feature in a future release, but as it stands now, I’m afraid you’d be better off just integrating a like button above/below your gallery thumbnails, especially in regards to load speed (in the lightbox the button has to reload on every image!)
Alternatively, you might be interested in adding the Pinterest “Pin it” button I came up with a while back (the issue above seems to be unique to the Facebook button)…
