• Hello!

    My wordpress site is: https://www.craplookingbooks.com

The best way to explain my problem is by going to this post:
    https://www.craplookingbooks.com/?p=8

As you can see from the browser bar, the header is the site title “[Crap Looking Books]” followed by the page title “How to talk to Writers: Vol.1”

When I copy the url of this page onto Facebook, or use the “comment” or “like” functions with “Post to Facebook” checked, the site title is dropped and only the post title is displayed in the Facebook link.

What I want is for Facebook to show both the site title and post title in the text of links, as they appear in the browser header.

I am using Calotropis version: 1.5.2 but I sense this is a universal problem with functions and the Theme is unimportant.

    Thank you for your time

    Nick

Quick point- if the answer is “No that’s entirely a Facebook problem” then please don’t skim and pass on, let me know if it is!

Is that part of your theme? There is no such function in WP.

The “comment” and “like” functions are dev code from Facebook itself, indeed not part of WP. However they are not really the problem, only produce the same end result.

I am largely talking about when the URL is copied from the address bar of a browser and manually pasted into a status or comment on Facebook. Only the post title is carried, not the site title.

Forgot to mention I accept I could manually change every post title to include “[Crap Looking Books]” but that would make my archive pages look revolting.

From what I’ve seen, FB can be a problem, but you might try a plugin which can give you more control over what’s used.

Or try another theme to see if it is, in fact, how your theme is coded.
