I have installed Jetpack/Yoast SEO / NextGen Facebook plugins on my website for open graph data. I have disabled Social from Yoast plugin and also disabled it from Jetpack. When I see viewsource for a past, I see the open graph data og:image properly. When debugging the page with the facebook debug tool, it parses the og:image correctly but shows a blank image as a result no image is shown for the posts shared.

    Please help.

  • Link to post with this issue? Maybe you have hotlink protection or something with your images causing Facebook not to find them.

I will check hotlink protection from server and update you shortly.

@markrh, Hotlink Protection was enabled on the server. I disabled it and the images start appearing on Facebook. Thank you for guidance. I will keep you posted in case of any issues related to this appear on this thread.

I ran it through the debugger and saw an image next to Link Preview. Sometimes it takes a bit of time before the image caches on Facebook and shows. When I attempt to share it, I see the image.

Edit: Ahh, OK, guess I checked it after you turned hotlink protection off.

Yes, that’s correct. This implies that I can’t share my images on Facebook after enabling Hotlink protection. How do I ensure that the images from my server are not hotlinked anywhere else? Any ideas?

Typically they are either hotlinked or not as far as basic cPanel configuration goes. When it is enabled (on my server), I can specify which URLs are allowed. When it’s disabled, all have access. I can also allow direct access to an image or not.

Thank you for the explanation @markrh. DOes that mean I can enable hotlink protection on my server and say that Facebook can access images from the website?
