  • Me too. Did you just update to WP4.0?

I’m having the exact same problem. I’ve updated to WP4.0 as well.

I should also note that I’m running a multisite and things seem to be working fine for the root website, but all sub sites display the same symptom that NiallN91 describes in the first post.

Ideas on how to solve this?

    Cheers,

    Tim

I’ve been told using this plugin may fix things, haven’t been able to test it out yet.

    Work for anyone else?

I tried something similar and it didn’t work, but maybe that is the fix. I’ll try now and report back…

    Negative.

I get the following on the Facebook Debugger:

Object at URL ‘https://www.aur.edu/business-administration/2014/09/01/bronwyn-sweeney-bus-06-kick-business-lecture-series/’ of type ‘website’ is invalid because a required property ‘og:title’ of type ‘string’ was not provided.

    Warning
Curl Error : OPERATION_TIMEOUTED Operation timed out after 10000 milliseconds with 0 bytes received

BUT, within the WP Open Graph panel on that same post I see the image, title and description.

    That is irritating.

Needed to have this fixed by Monday, doesn’t look like that will happen.

Nothing on my website itself suggests there is an error, just facebook doesn’t seem to be able to read the metadata any more.

Hi, I’m having the exact same problem with wp 4.0

Okay, I have appeared to have fixed this…

I went on the facebook debug tool:
    https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug

There it told me the og:type was not specified.

clicking the button ‘fetch new scrape information’ then seems to have correct this issue.

Hope it works for everyone else?

When I “fetch new scrape information” I still get the error I mention above… so I googled the “Curl Error” and found the following:

    https://stackoverflow.com/questions/22461368/facebook-developer-tool-throw-curl-error-operation-timeouted-operation-timed

Essentially, this means the error isn’t an “Open Graph” error, but the call to the server times out (which IS what it says, but I wasn’t SEEING that, as I thought it was an Open Graph error! Grrrrrrrr.)

Here’s the complete quote for the solution:

“Sorry, this problem wasn’t related with Open Graph Tags. I was very confused because there were not enough information from Facebook about that. I thought that there was a problem in my code and Facebook debugger couldn’t read the Open Graph Tags, but the problem was really that my server spent a lot of time to response the requests, and then Facebook Debugger threw a Timeout.

I was so confused because the response of homepage and static pages were correct, and the problem happened only with posts pages.

This problem was solved using a plugin for caching post pages. In this case I am using “WP Super Cache” plugin. Now the response of post pages is about 2 second, and Facebook Debugger can analyse Open Graph Tags correctly.”

I do not know, I use a few months w3 total cache, everything worked perfectly until the upgrade of Yoast, perhaps incompatibility between the 2 plugin??
but I disabled plugin w3 total and the inefficiency is still present. I noticed that if I disable in Yoast METATAGS Opengraph few posts are read well from facebook. Other advice, thanks!

In addition to the scraping new information, I also deactivated and reactivated the SEO plugin.

It might be both things combined?

I also turned off seo plugin, could be both, you have w3 total?
    here:
    http:/www.ads-software.com/support/topic/w3-total-cache-and-facebook-open-graph-errors

unfortunately I still have not resolved, other solutions?

No solution yet at my end. Anyone?
