• When you post a link to Facebook, the site usually grabs an image from the page to brighten up the display. If you’re really lucky you get a ‘Change preview’ button so you can choose which image it grabs.

That’s not happening with my new site, so far: it grabs the logo, and only the logo, no matter what.

Anyone know why that might happen? Is it likely to resolve itself if I just leave it for a bit?

Unfortunately it’s a really hard thing to google because so many things involve ‘WordPress’, ‘Facebook’, ‘preview’ and/or ‘images’!

Try the Facebook debugger tool https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug

If that does not help, then Please review WordPress 6.0 Master List and attempt troubleshooting steps outlined therein.

Thanks @t-p! That showed “og:image’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags”.

I’ve now installed the Yoast SEO plugin as recommended on other relevant posts, so I can manually set the image that Facebook (and Twitter) associate with each page, but surely this should be happening automatically? Or does it just assume that only Featured Images should ever be used for previews, or something?
