  • It would be great if one could just tell Jetpack to not include an image if there is not one attached to the post.

I just posted to my work site and when the post was sent to Facebook it included the Gravatar tied to my personal email, not my work email. So it appears Publicize is not grabbing the correct image from Gravatar anyway.

Still no solutions? I’d hoped this would be a simple fix and solved by now. Guess I’ll keep doing it manually or use wordbooker. Disappointed…

I would actually like Publicize to use the current profile picture of the Facebook page that it is posting to, rather than having to specify a featured image. Perhaps this could be a user selectable feature?

I have had the same problem since today
Post Images in Publicize doesn’t show on my Facebook page

just Show my avatar & description

    Best regards

Any news on this !!! I’m bored of this blue avatar !!!

Yes, same as Tinpiliycfa — we’ve had a number of Jetpack updates since this issue started; are we close to getting it fixed?

Why does publicize even need an avatar? Could a temporary fix just remove that feature and allow FB to pull the Post image or the FB Profile image?

I can confirm this bug is still present on latest version. ??

Hi, This is still happening. Well to me it is new, as I only just started to use JetPack to post to my fb. I also have it set on my cousin’s business page to link to her fb.

Currently it is showing the default G gravatar.

We are also having this issue – With the client site it found an old gravatar image and we couldn’t update it anywhere – it’s like it’s cached somewhere and with our test site all we got was a blue gravatar default icon and no combination of email addresses on gravatar with icons attached would get the blue to go away.

There is a simple development fix that automattic could do and that is to allow to choose a default image instead of a gravatar – that would make all the pain go away – in the meantime we can’t use this feature

    Please fix it.

Just upgraded Jetpack to the latest version this morning, have read the specs on publicize images at jetpack.me which says your image is selected in the following order:

    Featured image
An image attached to the post
Any other image in the post (i.e. linked)
    Blavatar
    Gravatar

I’ve verified that my Gravatar meets the size requirements of 200 x 200 pixels and also that that Gravatar is associated with the email address I use when posting to my blog.

Still the blue, default Gravatar is what appears in Facebook if I have no image (featured or otherwise) in the post. So…still not working.

My thumbs work fine but when people try to share my post it will not generate a thumbnail for sharing on any post at all this really sucks im not sure if its Jetpack API or facebook API any other people having this issue?

(This concerns autoshare to facebook which generates thumb, but when people try to share thumbs will not work at all!)

Server side settings check hotlink protect off, htaccess fine

Just enabled Publicize after we noticed the previous method of pulling in content to Facebook had stop. Now I have my Avatar showing against a story which has nothing to do with me. I’m not the author or the subject, but as it was me set it up, my photo.
Why it bothers with the image in the first place I don’t know. I’ve already got Open Graph set up to display the picture I want and if I just pasted the URL of the post Facebook would have done the rest.

Please provide at least one of the options below:
    a) disable gravatar
    b) use the og:image tag
    c) custom default image

Same issue here. Would love to see this issue fixed.

Seems to have been Facebook API if its not fixed now it must be on your guys end my would not show a thumbnail for 2 weeks the issue was resolved now no jetpack updates so it was definitely Facebook
