    It was working nice until I updated the update this morning. Now I am getting the following message when publishing a new post:

    Failed posting to your Facebook Timeline. Error: {“message”:”Can only modify connections owned by this application”,”type”:”Exception”}

    Any suggestions? I don’t really understand how to do the Open Graph creation thing in FB but it was working until the last update. Thanks.

  • Josh,
    Follow These instructions all the way down. Should help.
    https://developers.facebook.com/wordpress/

    This is the direct Link to the developer Build: https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/facebook.zip

    This is the direct link to Ver 1.2.2:
    https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/facebook.1.2.2.zip

    None of the above has worked for me. Same error.

    Same man. This is the suck.. I cannot get any support for this. I am not sure if the issue is that my Open Graph action is wrong or what. I did it just like the tutorial showed. Publish // Article.
    Kinda straight forward.

    Have been trying to get this to work all day.
    Really doing my head in now, done everything posted here and all i get is
    Failed posting to your Facebook Timeline. Error: {“message”:”Can only modify connections owned by this application”,”type”:”Exception”}

    Semfreak,

    Mine has been setup and working for months. It only happened when I went up to 1.2.2. I know my opengraph actions are right, yours probably are too, like you said… straight forward.

    Sorry guys, but I can’t figure out how to do a screen shot. The instructions for Mac don’t work. But, was thinking and the only thing I did different than before was activate the hosting URL to the herokuapp.com ( which was a free host selection on the FB developer). And then it worked.

    I’m definitely having this problem too. It’s obviously a problem with the plugin, because it was working (more or less) before the update. Before the update, my posts wouldn’t publish to my timeline, but at least they would go to my news feed. Now, I just get this error message. This plugin has been nothing but trouble, even when it’s “working.” I was hoping the bugs would get straightened out by the update, but apparently, they’ve just gotten worse, and there’s no help in sight.

    Anyone found a sollution?

    Good to know I’m not the only one experiencing this problem…

    I’m having this problem too – oddly though the Facebook Page is working fine, it’s just the post to my personal timeline is broken.

    Tried all previous versions back to 1.2 – don’t work.

    The fact the app does post to my Page suggests it’s the plugin (and it was working before) but previous versions don’t now work like they used to, so suggests it’s something Facebook’s end that’s changed.

    My app has been approved upto April for the ‘breaking changes’ so don’t think it’s that.

    Yep timbearcub, both of those are true for me as well. Posts to page, but not to timeline, and now the older versions of the plugin aren’t posting to the timeline either.

    Same here… unable to publish at all to my profile timeline, get same error message:

    Failed posting to your Facebook Timeline. Error: {“message”:”Can only modify connections owned by this application”,”type”:”Exception”}

    I’ve tried all the debugging suggestions, have deleted, reinstalled, reauthorized, etc., numerous times. Publishing to a page timeline does work.

    To jaydokie – how did you get it to work with Heroku? Just setup a new Heroku app and done my first test post – still doesn’t work, and of course I can’t publish the app until I’ve done at least one post on the timeline, which it refuses to do gah…

    Did you click ‘You have not generated a URL through one of our partners (Get one)’ with an existing FB app? I don’t want to break the current app…which did work, before.

    I thought it might be my server as I don’t have proper HTTPS on my domain (kind of, but it’s a different URL which isn’t WP friendly) so this ruled that out.

    As per the other one, it still did post to my page.

    Here is a portion of my first e-mail after changing the settings, which evidently I had wrong:

    Old Value New Value
    tab_default_name RoundHouseTalk
    iframe_height 0 800

    Then I got this e-mail (xxxx are my id hidden for this response and 0 for my IP number)

    App settings for RoundHouseTalk (app id = xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) changed by Jay Daniels from 00.000.0.000 on Mon, 04 Feb 2013 20:15:18 -0800
    Changed settings:
    Old Value New Value
    hosting_url https://young-spire-1166.herokuapp.com/

    Then I got an e-mail telling me that:

    Old Value New Value
    hosting_url https://radiant-lake-0000.herokuapp.com/
    mobile_web_url https://radiant-lake-0000.herokuapp.com/
    base_domains.2 radiant-lake-0000.herokuapp.com

    Each of the 0 above in the new value were a specific 4 digit number generated when I set up herokuapp. Sorry, thats all I can say, but it worked and has worked since then which about a week ago now.
