    Jetpack Mechanic ??

Jetpack uses your posts’ shortlinks to query Facebook’s API and get sharing counts. Unfortunately, it appears that your shortlinks returned 404 errors when Facebook tries to access them:
    https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object?q=http%3A%2F%2Fblog.udiburg.com%2F%3Fp%3D3456
    https://i.wpne.ws/cfN2

However, as soon as I ask Facebook to crawl the URL again, this time it gets redirected to the full post properly, and the sharing counts appear:
    https://i.wpne.ws/cfHj
    https://i.wpne.ws/cffc

Did you recently make some changes to your permalink settings, to allow shortlinks to be properly redirected to full permalinks? If so, the sharing count issues should disappear with your future posts. For posts that are already published, on the other hand, I’m afraid I can only suggest that you use Facebook Debug and its “Fetch New Scrape Information” button.

Another alternative would be to wait until Jetpack 3.7. We’ve indeed changed the way the sharing counts are calculated in the upcoming release of Jetpack:
    https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/pull/2495

    I hope this helps.

    Hi Jeremy,

Actually I didn’t change anything with my permalinks.
This is how it is configured from day one:
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/2jdf1sv95pi6dhy/jetpack-permalinks.jpg?dl=0

Also, new posts that were just created and shared doesn’t show the count.
It just stopped working few months ago with no reason.
So is there a way to fix it?

new posts that were just created and shared doesn’t show the count.
It just stopped working few months ago with no reason.

It most likely stopped working when we switched to a new method of counting Facebook shares in Jetpack, as Facebook announced that they were deprecating Facebook Graph API v1.

That doesn’t explain the issue, though. Looking at your last post, Facebook’s Debugger reports the same problem: Facebook isn’t able to access that shortlink and doesn’t get redirected to the full permalink:
    https://i.wpne.ws/ckUJ

As soon as I force Facebook to crawl that URL again, things start working:
    https://i.wpne.ws/clhu

At this point, I’d suggest that you wait until Jetpack 3.7 is released; since we’ve changed the way Facebook sharing counts work, it should start working on your site again.
Another alternative would be to install Jetpack 3.7 Beta on your site:

    Jeremy,

Maybe I’ll try the beta on my test site and i it will work ok, on my blog.
Anyhow I have to wait ??

    Thanks for the quick response.

    Hi Jeremy,

So after upgrading to 3.7 that was released, I lost the FB share count that I had on all my posts.
Now the FB share icon is displayed with no count at all.

I just wanted to add in that I am also seeing the same behavior on one of my sites. The twitter count appears to be just fine, it’s limited to the Facebook count.

Yep, only to the FB count.

Do you happen to be using a caching plugin on your site? If so, could you try flushing your cache and let me know if it helps?

    (@007me)

Sorry, no caching plugin on my site.
I’m using cloudflare CDN, bu it doesn’t impact the other shares like twitter and linkedin so I believe it has nothing to do with it.

I do use a caching plugin, but I clear the cache every time a plugin is updated. I cleared it earlier after your post as well and I still have the same results.

@udi Looking at your site, you still seem to be loading an old version of the file, instead of using the version that was updated in Jetpack 3.7.

Could you try to flush your site’s cache in your CloudFlare settings?

@marioknight Could you post your site URL here, so I can have a look?

    Ok!
    Purged all and it’s working!
    Thank you Jeremy! ??

It looks like I had the same issue, purged my CloudFlare cache, and FB shares are back. Thank you for the help!
