As of a week ago, the facebook share button at the end of EACH POST on my food blog has disappeared. This is no good. I’ve reached out to wordpress.com for assistance and while they cant help as this involves a 3rd party plugin, they did say “the issue seems to be related to the “ultimate-social-media-icons” plugin that’s currently active on your site. ?When that plugin is disabled, the “Facebook” sharing button shows up without any issues. ?When that plugin is enabled, the “Facebook” sharing button doesn’t show up.” They then advised me to seek help from this forum.

The share button for whatsapp, twitter, email and etc is displayed as usual, only the Facebook button has disappeared for some reason. (It is located at the end of each post – after the address, opening hours and sign off) Kindly help.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @thefoodbunny ,

    Thank you for your message!

It seems like these icons at the bottom of your page are not from our plugin. Therefore there must be a conflict, which you’re experiencing while deactivating our plugin. If you’d like to fully use our plugin’s share buttons feature, please deactivate the other third party entity and use this display option within our plugin as well (you can select it under section #3).

Let me know how it goes!

@efedinler1 I’ve noticed a similar problem and think there may be a bug in the code. If you look at the following (from libs/controllers/sfsiocns_OnPosts.php):

… you’ll notice the src link is malformed (missing the colon from https).

Since there would probably be a conflict if this script was in place twice it’s possible your script has taken precedence over the other plugin @thefoodbunny is using which might explain why that plugin’s share buttons aren’t working.

@efedinler1, @bbceg Hey, thank you for your reply

@efedinler1 , as much as I understand English fluently, I had no idea what you were saying. The gist of it is that there is another party/plugin that is causing the error. Correct? this would imply that I actually did something to cause the error – download another plugin, change the programming transcript and etc … which I did not. I’ve been using the Ultimate Social Media Icon for a long while now and this issue only started a week ago. In that duration, I have not made any changes whatsoever. Hence, it is not likely at all that another plugin/party or a change in transcript has occurred. So, I went back to WordPress.com support and asked them to simplify the rest of what you were talking about, for me. I’ve attached their reply below.

” They’re asking you to do a conflict test. ?A conflict test is where you disable plugins one at a time to see which one is causing an issue. ?When I first checked the?https://thefoodbunny.com?site, I did a conflict test and I was able to determine that the “ultimate-social-media-icons” plugin was causing the issue.
    ?
It’s interesting how you mentioned that this issue only started happening in the past week. ?I took a closer look at the “ultimate-social-media-icons” plugin and this plugin was updated last week; something in that update is causing the conflict with the “Facebook” sharing button. ?You can let them know you spoke to us and we’re confirming that their plugin is conflicting with the default “Facebook” sharing button. ?Hopefully, they’re able to guide you properly and work towards a resolution.”

So, there you go. I need this issue settled asap, sir. When restaurants invite me to review their food, it is based on the understanding that I’ll promote and share the review on one of the largest social media platforms other than TikTok. Being unable to do so on Facebook is detrimental. Our reputation is at stake. WordPress.com said it is indeed an error by Ultimate Social Media Icon, www.ads-software.com is saying that Ultimate Social Media Icon is not responsible. Two conflicting opinions. What is going on?

@thefoodbunny For our team to investigate it further for you, could you kindly reach out to us at help (at) ultimatelysocial (dot) com email address? We will directly investigate it for you further.

    Thank you!

@efedinler1 Since I am experiencing the same problem please could you update this thread once you have concluded your investigation for @thefoodbunny or would you prefer I post a new issue? There is at least one other thread which references the same error. I’m fairly confident if you replace this…

    …with this…

    https://connect.facebook.net

    …all will be well.

Have also had a similar issue but with the Facebook Like button. It’s disappeared, with all history of blog post ‘Likes’ gone. This has only been the case since the last update. Have been using this plugin for a long time as well. Hoping whatever fix is initiated for @thefoodbunny problem, fixes this as well if the cause is the same. Thanks ??
