I’m having an issue with the Facebook share link. When the Facebook share button is clicked, the following error pops up: “The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.”

I tried replacing %%url%% with %%url_trimmed%% in the Facebook Share Link, as was suggested in a couple of other posts about this same issue, but no luck. I’m still getting the error.

I don’t think it’s a plugin conflict – the only other plugin on the site that has any social media features is WordPress SEO by Yoast (the option for adding Open Graph meta data is enabled), but both plugins have been on the site together and working fine for several months.

    Thanks for any help!

  • That seems to be caused by the “Easy Fancybox” plugin, could you please try and disable it? If the problem goes away you can then re-enable it as I have a fix for it in the next version.

Awesome, it works now with the update. Thanks so much!

I’m also using Social Media Feather and Yoast SEO and all of a sudden am getting the same error message for Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and email sharing. I don’t have Easy Fancybox so I’m clueless as to how to fix this.

This unfortunately seems to pose a conundrum. Many themes or plugins that provide Fancybox lightboxes simply look for the word “fancybox” in the class of links.

Easy Fancybox instead applies the fancybox to ALL links containing images and the only way to disable it is to specify a class of “nofancybox”.

The problem here is that “nofancybox” contains the word “fancybox” in it so it basically enables all other fancybox plugins. I think this is something that the Easy Fancybox author needs to address, allowing a class like “nolightbox” to disable fancybox popups.

Note for robgolbeck: because of the above I need to revert the last change which means that it will again break for Easy Fancybox, so I’d recommend waiting on updating SMF to 1.7.3+ until Easy Fancybox provides a workaround.
