Facebook share not showing Featured Image

    For about a month, off and on, I have had trouble getting the Featured Image to post to Facebook when sharing. Sometimes it works, others not. There have been times when renaming the permalink to the post and then re-sharing fixes it, others not. Again, very random. I am not a coder, at all, so this is beyond frustrating to me. I have spent several hours tonight searching similar problems and suggested fixes on the forums, including the Facebook debugger – but nothing seems to be a solid fix. I’ve even gone back and tried to reshare some old posts that I know worked originally – and again, a few did and few did not work upon the retry. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

  • Looks like you are using JetPack for sharing? In that case, you should ask on the JP forum:

    Thank you. I do have JetPack installed, and have from the beginning. There were no issues with the featured image showing up on Facebook shares until more recently. Could it be that JetPack and WP or another plugin are messing the code up for sharing? I tested by disabling my JetPack Facebook share connection – and still the same result – no image when sharing to FB.

    You can try deactivating all other plugins and switching to the default theme to see if anything else is messing it up. But from what I’ve seen, FB is often the culprit – discussed here:

    But in any case, if you want to pursue it, the JetPack forum is the place to post (in your own thread).

    I’m not sure if this is the correct place to post my question. Please direct me to the right place, if not.

    First, I’m new to WordPress. Explains a lot.

    When I am on Facebook and type in my URL in a status update, it will bring up an image (which is an add on my homepage). I have set a featured image on the homepage, but not sure why it does not show up when I am posting a status on Facebook. Any suggestions please, I am totally lost.

    qsz – can you please elaborate? I have the All in One SEO, I have tried to upload a default image, featured image, etc… nothing seems to work.

    I’m not sure if I’m even checking the right things in the All in One SEO.

    Install Open Graph plugin which support All in One Seo Pack.
    And configure it.
    I use it and it works perfectly.
