Hi, initially my Facebook share button worked fine, but recently things changed. I have found out why, but don’t know how to fix it. When I use the facebook debugger this is what I get:

Inferred Property The ‘og:url’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.
Inferred Property The ‘og:title’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.
Inferred Property The ‘og:description’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.
Inferred Property The ‘og:image’ property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.

My website is https://www.bubbleandsqueeeee.com and the link to the debugger is here: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object/
I have uninstalled all of my random plugins, but none of them seem to be the culprit.
Any help would be really appreciated.

  • I’m having the same trouble as well, after the last update. In my case the articles appear to only be missing the “og:type” property. See my site: https://www.breakingfittslaw.com

A workaround involved setting the property on my comic post in the Custom Fields, which I set to “comic”. Curiously, when running the page in Facebook’s debugger tool, the ‘og:type’ property showed up (after the fix above) but it shows up as “article” as opposed to “comic”. So something got it unstuck but I’m not sure what.

Also, I’ve re-built all of the comics that I previously had scheduled before the update. There’s a chance that those aren’t properly posting with the new code.

Hope that helps, but I’m still not confident that I actually fixed anything and would love to hear more.

Sorry – I have been on vacation for a while and only saw your post now. Thanks. I will give it a try and let you know if any of it works. ??

Thank you, Bonnie. So far it’s working if I add the extra og:type property but I do think it’s missing the root meta strings from the custom post.

Utilize a different plugin, like the jetpack plugin, the share module .. or any other one that creates the og: information

Hey Frumph, thanks for the last update.

I am in fact using the Jetpack Share module, which worked great earlier. It all appears to be working just fine with your latest update so thank you.

    Cheers!

Jetpack fixed it thanks ?? Now I just need to find a share module that creates the og: Info and looks pretty.
