    Hi guys,

I tried a few days ago to transfer all my Facebook posts to one of my website using the new feature provided by Facebook.
It seemed it all went well as I followed each step and it succeeded, except I see no new posts on my website dashboard.

Here are screen captures from Facebook where you start the process :

    Facebook Feature 1

    Facebook Feature 2

The one thing I am thinking about that would explain my posts weren’t transferred/imported is that I am using a free version of Jetpack.

Any idea, suggestion, explanation would be greatly appreciated as this is really a very useful trick.
The other solution I have is to import all my posts to my WordPress using classical import options (plugins, CSV, database queries…) ; which is doable but really less fluid.

    ?? Thanks a lot,
    Renan.

    Hi @renansavidan

The export should work fine on the free version of Jetpack. I’ve done it to a WordPress.com site, but haven’t tried Jetpack, but there should be no limitations to a free account.

What browser are you using? When I had originally tried in FireFox, it didn’t work, but then it worked in Safari, so trying a different browser might be something to think about.

The general support guide for WordPress.com is here, though it should be the same for Jetpack sites as long as you have a good Jetpack connection.

Hi @bruceallen thanks for following up.
I tried with Chrome as I was logged in both on Facebook and my Website warpzone.space

As I said it ran smoothly.
I will try as suggested and use another browser or use it in private mode.
It seems it’s worth trying if the result is good.

    Thanks again,
    Renan.

    Hi @renansavidan

Let us know how it goes. One thing to keep in mind is that all imported Facebook content will be saved as draft posts.

You can review and publish them by clicking on Posts in your site’s dashboard.

Hi @lastsplash, thanks but there were no draft posts created either.
I will let you know for sure.

    That sounds like a plan.

No need to reply until you’ve given everything a chance, but once you do, please let us know the results and we can help from there. Thanks!

    Hi guys,
I tried again on Chrome, in private mode.
It went well again, I could connect both my WordPress.com account and my WordPress website as administrator.
    No error, only success messages.

But 0 posts imported/created on my website (whatever the status).

I am thinking it simply doesn’t work as it seems I am following instructions properly.

I have several websites connected with Jetpack on my WordPress.com account even though there are not hosted/managed on the wordpress.com platform.

I will maybe try more but I will have to import them differently if I get no results.

    Thanks,
    Renan.

    Hi @renansavidan

In an earlier response, my colleague mentioned using Firefox and having success. Could you try in Firefox just to rule out the possibility of a Chrome-specific issue?

Also, are the posts all set to public? This won’t work with private posts.

    Hi,
I read your colleague mentioned the opposite: When I had originally tried in FireFox, it didn’t work, but then it worked in Safari, ; I am not using Safari myself and anyway it seems it’s all working (though no post are created), I wouldn’t understand what difference it might make.
I will try with Firefox anyway but how Chrome affects this all as it’s a connexion between Facebook and Jetpack/WordPress ?

Do I have to be hosted on wordpress.com ? (because I am not)

    Thanks for following up.

    Hi,
Just tried with Firefox in private mode.
I received (like all last times) that message from Facebook:
    Hi Renan,
Your transfer of a copy of your Facebook notes to WordPress.com/Jetpack has completed. Please go to WordPress.com/Jetpack to review your transferred notes.

Still no new posts on my website.

I don’t know what’s wrong, it seems to me something is missing.
I am thinking those might be an issue:

    • As I am using different email addresses for all these different accounts
    • I am using Jetpack on a free plan
    • My wordpress.com account is linked to several websites (even though I always select the right one when requesting the transfer)
    • My website is not hosted on wordpress.com

    Thanks.

    Hi there –

Thanks for giving it another try.

On Facebook, I created new posts with Public visibility to test. I then imported to a Jetpack site that isn’t hosted on WordPress.com and was able to import to a Jetpack-connected site. Here’s a sample:

Just to confirm, you are selecting the correct site here?

Also, can you share the URL so we can see if there are problems with the Jetpack connection to the site? It is possible that if it is timing out that may cause issues.

    Hi,
Yes I did the same you did, thanks for helping.
Not all of my Facebook posts are public, only some of them.
Maybe that could be an issue.
As for the URLs you are asking for, I am not exactly sure which ones you are talking about.

    Hi @renansavidan

My apologies, I was asking for the URL of the website you are trying to import to. With the URL, I can check for issues with the Jetpack connection.

    > Not all of my Facebook posts are public, only some of them.

My sense is that the tool will skip posts that aren’t public and import those that are.

    Hi @lastsplash,
I guessed the same about the Facebook posts status.
The website I am trying to transfer posts to is :
    https://warpzone.space
    Thanks.

    Hi @renansavidan

Thanks for the URL and for your patience as we work through this. I’m not seeing any issues with the connection.

When you select a site to import to, are you seeing multiple instances of “warpzone” listed when you select the dropdown?

I’m referring to this screen (this one is showing my test site).

    Hi @lastsplash,
    Thanks you too.
I don’t think there is any other instance, I already thought it might be an issue but checked every time.
These 2 domain names are being routed to the same website : warp-zone.space and warpzone.space (with bothe www subdomain redirections).
But the one I select is : warpzone.space everytime.
    Not sure it helps.
