• When I add the facebook widget to my sidebar, the “title” that I can enter unique text for *becomes* the link to my facebook page and beneath, where I expect the widget to be, is a white square. It increases in size with more checkmarks by items that I want to appear. How can I get rid of the box? And what is the widget supposed to look like? The title as link is misleading, as all my other widget titles are only text, with widget content below them.

    Thank you,
    Michelle

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

The widget settings include 2 different options: one for the widget title, the other for the Facebook Page URL itself:

The output of the Like Box will depend on your theme, and on the options you checked in the widget settings.

The widget title, however, does indeed include a link to the Page. It doesn’t have to look like a link though; you can control the look of that title with CSS. If you let me know your site URL I’d be happy to have a look.

where I expect the widget to be, is a white square

Could you check your Facebook Page settings, and make sure there are no country or age restrictions that may also restrict access to your Page information outside of Facebook?

    Hi,

    I have a similar issue:
I’ve installed the Jetpack Facebook widget and I also have a white box appearing where the box should be.

However, this is only happening in Google Chrome… Everything works fine in Safari and Firefox. I am using Chrome version 28.0.1500.95.

Here is the link to a page of my website:
    https://goutezlotbiniere.zonart.ca/marche-public/

FYI: I am using the Directory theme, but I noticed this is also happening on my website using the King Size theme.

There seems to be an incompatibility problem between Jetpack and Chrome…

Any idea on how to fix this?

    Thanks again for your help!

I was having the same problem. I’m new to wordpress, but am fairly computer literate. However, I never thought to check Safari and Firefox. When I activated the widget again and checked in Firefox, the like button was blocked by Ghostery, with the option to whitelist. I whitelisted my website in Chrome and everything is fine. Safari was fine.

Here is my website if you want to take a look.

Sorry, I can’t get the hyperlink to work for some reason!

Thanks for giving me something to check!

Wow… I would like to try that for myself!

How do you proceed to whitelist a website? (if you don’t mind giving me a hand ??

FYI, my trouble rendered on Safari.

    kaylynnej,
Its a setting in the Ghostery add on for Firefox and Chrome. That’s all I did. Sorry I can’t be more help.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

@kaylynnej Your problem is different from the one mentioned by @happygirlpam, since I can reproduce the issue, while I don’t use the Ghostery add-on.

I tried to access your Facebook Page, and I was redirected to Facebook’s home page. Could you check that the Page URL is correct? If so, could you check your Page settings and make sure that you don’t restrict access to your Page depending on age or country?

If you do restrict access to your Page, Facebook will hide the Page (and the Like Box) whenever you’re logged out of your Facebook account, or if your account matches one of the restriction parameters.

@story of Choice Could you post your site URL here, so I can have a look?

    Hi Jeremy,

I’ve just looked into my client’s Facebook page settings to discover he had restricted the page to Canada only. I removed the restriction and now everything works out fine.

    Thanks for your help! ??
