I was able to link my website posts and pages in my Facebook posts without issues – until now.
Few days ago I migrated my website to another host – and suddenly FB is not posting my links and Debugging is showing the following error:

    Curl error:61 (BAD_CONTENT_ENCODING)

I have optimised SEO post migration – didn’t help.

Only my homepage is posting correctly, all other pages and posts are not.

Why is this happening out of a sudden and how can I fix it?

    thanks

    Hi @magicpowers

Upon checking a sample page https://www.quantumliving.com.au/about-anna-anderson/, we can see that the Yoast SEO plugin is outputting all of the correct open graph tags.

However, when we run it through Facebook’s Sharing Debugger Tool, we can confirm that it is showing the error of:

    Curl error: 61 (BAD_CONTENT_ENCODING)

Please note that this is not something related to the Yoast SEO plugin’s functionality. From the description of the problem, it’s something related to the way your server is sending the data to Facebook and how it’s being encoded.

This is something that needs to be looked into by your server administrator or web host. We did find some additional information in the Facebook documentation here that says: “For your website to be shared correctly by our crawler, your server must also use the gzip and deflate encodings.”

We also found a similar issue being reported by W3 Total Cache users. Apparently, enabling the GZIP compression in the plugin, plus the compression from your server will cause this problem. So you may want to check that if you are using the W3 Total Cache plugin as well.

    Hi @mikes41720

    thanks for your reply.

Yes, I do have W3 Total Cache plugin and have also reached out to their support.

I will wait to hear from them, – and will update them with the information you have provided – thanks! – before I reach out to my new host.

    many thanks!
