    Hi @brucedraganjac

The background animations are working that way, that when the current slide starts to “go out” the upcoming slide immediately starts to “come in”, so currently it’s not possible to separate these.

If you would use an autoplay and the interval would be set to e.g. 2000MS and your background animation’s duration would be set to e.g. 3000MS, that might be the reason of this issue, so you could simply change either of those values to make the Autoplay interval a bigger number than the animation duration.

But we’ll check the possibility of creating an animation like this.

I tried adjusting the settings of autoplay (6000ms), animation (2000ms), and background animation (slow), using different combinations and can’t seem to get the first photo to fade to black before the next photo starts fading in. The page can be viewed at:

    Thanks!

That is the expected behavior, as our background animations are working that way that when the slide is changing, the current slide starts to fade out, and the next / previous slide immediately starts to fade in.

I can think about one workaround which is possible with the current settings. You could try to turn off the background animations and set the Animation to none: https://imgur.com/Mr61nmY
But I’m not sure if this is the result you are expecting.

One other workaround would be using image layers and layer animations (with disabled background animation) – just the layer animations are pro only features, so you can’t try that out.

    Thanks for your fast response.

You might want to consider adding that function to your animations. I’ll just have to use another slider for now. I really liked the interface for your slider, and maybe I’ll be able to use it again at some point. It works very nicely if the images are all the same size. I tried to get this client to create slides all the same size, but he insisted on using the original aspect ratios for each slide. Bummer.

    Thanks again! ??

I added it to our to do list (and I’ve been tweaking around with the animations to create an effect like this), so we’ll look into it, and probably we’ll be able to introduce it in one of the future versions.

About the image sizes: you could try to change the fill mode for each individual slide: https://doc.smartslider3.com/article/394-slide-settings#fillmode
or every slide within the slider: https://doc.smartslider3.com/article/59-slider-size#fillmode
and I think that would help resolving this issue.
