• I can’t see what this achieves that wordpress can’t natively do whilst not running the exceptionally large amount of useless queries that this plugin potentially runs.

As the author of the plugin I take a couple issues with what you’ve considered a review here. First, just because you personally don’t see the purpose of a plugin doesn’t mean it deserves a one star review. Second, WordPress core only lets you insert media into the editor. This plugin gives you a separate meta box with any fields you want, to keep the list of Attachmemts outside the main editor. Next: this plugin stores everything in a single metadata record, so I’m not sure why you’ve felt the need to speculate that the plugin runs a ‘large amount of potentially useless queries’, I’m not really sure how to respond to that without saying that the plugin might run a single query for one metadata record if you tell it to.

Interestingly enough, most of what WordPress does with media now isn’t available to you on WP 3.2.1.

OMG don’t even listen to this people. This plugin saved me a lot of time in a lot of projects, thanks for your hard work.
