I want to migrate my website from siteground migrator showing a message says “There are php files already residing on the selected path” and refuse to generate the migration token again for us. There is no way to migrate the content of the temporary website to our new website as we can’t seem to get a migration token.

    Hello @dzcoffee,

The warning you’re receiving means that there are files present in the folder to which you’re trying to move the application. In order for the transfer to be successfully initiated the destination folder should be empty.?

Please make sure to remove any old installations present, before requesting the migration token generation.

    Best Regards,

How to remove any old installations present, any tutorial?

    Hello @dzcoffee,

You can use the File Manager tool to remove any old files:

    https://siteground.com/kb/manage-files-file-manager/

However, if the issue persists, please feel free to submit a support ticket in your Client Area at Siteground and we will be glad to assist you.

    Regards,

    Vladimir

Can I just migrate the website content, picture, theme etc and remain the original domain name? It said it needed to change my domain name.

    Hello @dzcoffee,

As long as you migrate from the same website there is no change performed.

Let’s say you migrate from domain1.com, you should create the same website under SiteGround and the migration would not change the URL.

What if domain1 is hosted by Siteground, and I want to migrate domain2 which is hosted by WordPress to domain1? Will that work?

If there is difference in the domain names the URL will change to the one of the domain where the migration is to be performed.

If you are migrating domain2.com hosted elsewhere to domain1.com hosted with SiteGround the URL will change to domain1.com.

As long as the remote host allows you to install the SiteGround Migrator plugin and there are no other restrictions imposed on their end, the transfer should be successful.

    Best regards,
    Georgi Ganchev
