Hi. If a payment have the status “failed payment” – will stripe try again for the payment? Or can I just delete the order?

I also use Woo Subscriptions plugin, and in subscription list, the order have “On hold” status. And I need to know if I can cancel the order, or should I wait for another attempt for payment.

    Thank you.

  • Hi @anadavosagency,

Thank you for reaching out to us with your questions. I understand that you’re dealing with a “failed payment” status and an “on hold” status for your subscription. Let’s see if we can clarify these for you.

    1. Failed Payment: When a payment fails in WooCommerce, it could be due to a variety of reasons such as an issue with the customer’s bank account, an expired card, or incorrect information. If you’re using the WooCommerce Subscriptions plugin, it will automatically try the card again several times before changing the status to “On Hold”. You can find more details about why a payment failed by going to WooCommerce → Orders in the WordPress dashboard (WP Admin), find the order that failed and click the order number to find more information.
    2. On Hold Status: A subscription is placed “On-Hold” when an associated order is awaiting payment, or it has been manually suspended by the store owner or customer. If it was manually suspended, it would need to be manually reactivated.

Before you delete any orders, I would recommend checking the reason for the failed payment first. If the issue is something that can be resolved, you might want to give it another try. If you’re considering canceling the order, please note that this should be a last resort as it might affect your relationship with the customer.

If you have any other questions or need further clarification, feel free to ask. We’re here to help!
