  • Thanks for all the help & taking the trouble to look into my issue.
I contacted ProPhoto – my WP design theme maker – and they gave me a plugin which removes the built in OG values & it works now!!!
    Thanks again!!!

@chavim what kinda plugin is that to remove built in OG values?
is it to be found on the net?

It’s by ProPhoto Blogs – for their themes (not for WP in general).

    Ladies & Gents,

I’m completly out of my mind at this point. I read everything in this area and i’m still no closer to solve the issue of the dreaded:
    ———————————-
    Failed posting to your Facebook Timeline. Error: {“message”:”Object at URL ‘https://enlightbulb.com/2012/10/23/test-2/’ of type ‘article’ is invalid because it specifies multiple ‘og:url’ values: https://enlightbulb.com/2012/10/23/test-2/, https://enlightbulb.com/2012/10/23/test-2/.”,”type”:”Exception”}
    ———————————-

    I’m running WP: Version 3.4.2
    The following plugins are active:
    1. Akismet
    2. Disqus Comment System
    3. Facebook
    4. Google XML Sitemaps
    5. Jetpack by WordPress.com
    6. SEO Slugs Dutch
    7. WordPress Importer

    The following plugins are inactive:
    1. Bit.ly Shortlinks
    2. Ultimate TinyMCE

I’m getting to a point where I don’t know what else to do, except to dump WP and this whole mess, and move to Tumbler (which I’m not happy about). This seriously can’t be this difficult.

I would really really appreciate someone’s help on this one!

    Thank you in advance!

@enlightbulb If you don’t give real examples, nobody can help you. There is no article at https://enlightbulb.com/2012/10/23/test-2/, presumably because it was a test and you deleted it.

When I found a real post you made, and fed it to the Facebook debugger, it doesn’t give me a “multiple og:url” error, so I’m not sure what you’re seeing or where.

Short answer is that your page doesn’t have multiple og:url values that I can see.

@otto – I’m so sorry, honestly I realized right after that I did that lol.

In either case after spending oh about 12 hours =) going through everything I figured out the issue. And I have to say I feel dumb. The theme I use, has an OG integration as well, and it was conflicting. Now you would think it was easy to figure that out, but I was just so tired that I didn’t put 1+1 together, and I feel silly.

In either case, I wanted to thank you for taking the time @otto to reply!

I do have one other question, which is a bit off this topic, but still within it. I can’t seem to find where I can change the default image selection for open graph to use if I don’t set a featured image for the blog post that i’m posting on WordPress, so it automatically pushes it to facebook.

    I’ve checked the following places:

    1. The OG App Settings – i’ve put all the icons and images i want to use there, but it still posts with my default theme logo / my default wordpress set logo if no featured image is selected.

    2. The actual WP theme has an OG on/off option, and if turned on, I can set an alternative image, but having OG on through the theme conflicts with the Facebook plugin. so I need an alternative.

    3. The alternative I could think of is on the facebook side, but I’m lost there.

That said, if you have any feedback, I’d appreciate the help!

Also, I know this is related to the action type but i can’t seem to “highlight” any of the posts pushes to my timeline, and i have to manually go to the developer area on facebook and “allow” a post on my timeline, otherwise it shows up only in my activity area.

I’ve done as much reading as my mind can take and I can seem to find the answers.

    Thanks again!

I have the answer! This drove me nuts because it happened only after updating open graph…

Jetpack was also creating OG:URL meta tags. Go into your jetpack settings, I believe the issue was “enhanced distribution”, click learn more – then disable, clear cache & finally try debugging again. ?? Issue fixed!

multiple og:url values are likely from multiple plugins outputting Open Graph protocol for your site. Please disable the conflicting plugin or unhook the Open Graph protocol portions of Facebook or the other plugin(s).
