    1. Went to update my apps yesterday and immediately knew something was wrong as my website was missing most of its images and the layout seemed like it was missing. I then logged into the admin panel and it seemed okay but images were missing.
    2. I ran the first plugin update (there were 4 waiting to be updated as well as a theme update at the time). The plugin update ran, but wouldn’t go the finished update page.
    3. After a period of time, I went back to the update page and the pluging I had updated was no longer showing. I repeated steps 2-3 for all the updates and had the same experience until nothing was left to update.
    4. I then tried to open my media library. But this failed to load.
    5. I decided to start with plugins and removed a couple of old plugins relating to my theme, GeneratePress.
    6. I deactived all my plugins (and noticed prior to doing this that Jetpack was not connected).
    7. I then downloaded and installed Twenty-Three.
    8. None of this had any positive effects on my site.
    9. I ran a site audit which said everything was good except for the connection to Jetpack, which it suggested I should reconnect to so I followed the link. The reconnection failed.
    10. I went to my backups and first insalled a back up from about 4 days ago when everything looked fine. When this make a difference, I went back to a backup from over a month ago and this still had no change to the problms.

My host has an AI tool that you can use now for suggesting errors. It is very overwhelming as it gives you all the possible solutions it can find. I was using this tool for some of the above. There were some things it was suggesting that my host would be able to look into so I contacted their support.

    11. I then tried my host’s chat support with a real person. They said it was a browser issue (I’d already cleared my cache etc before contacting them).

    12. After closing the support window, I checked the site through a different browser and on my husband’s computer and it had the same result.

    13. This morning I deleted my website and installed a new instance of WordPress (with siteground wizard turned on) and noticed the same errors on the home page.

    14. I then contacted my host again who said there were no issues at their end and that I should try updating or adding my plugins and see if I get an error. Now when I try to access the admin, I get a pure white page and can’t do anything.

The errors I’m seeing when inspecting the admin white page are:

index.php:1 Refused to execute script from ‘https://jacmus.com/wp-includes/js/jquery/jquery.min.js?ver=3.7.1’ because its MIME type (‘image/gif’) is not executable.

The errors I get on the homepage are:

jacmus.com/:1 Uncaught (in promise) Error: A listener indicated an asynchronous response by returning true, but the message channel closed before a response was received

These are similar to the issues I saw before when advised by the AI plugin to look there for errors and then to contact my hosts support.

My next step was to come here to seek help as I don’t know what to do next.

I am unsure what resolved this issue. I noticed that there was a Cross-Origin Read Blocking error and began to go through steps to report this to chromium.org but at the same time lodged a report with my personal firewall provider of a possible partially blocked website. About 5 minutes after lodging that, WordPress became fully functional again.
