I am getting this error message when trying to add a new subscriber to my mail chimp account via Optin Form UNLESS the user is already in my mail chimp audience. I’ve tested this with a couple of manual entries into my mail chimp audience and get the success message. Any new subscribers I get this error message

    Hi leesawyzard2023,

Thanks for your message. I will be happy to help.

The causes of this issue can be varied. It’s usually a general connection issue, so we’ll need to try out a few things to find the problem,

First, you can check your MailChimp list settings, and make sure you don’t have any fields marked mandatory. If you do, anything that comes through without those is rejected, and you get that 400 error.

If that is not the issue, please try resetting your MailChimp API. Then be sure to give the new API to anything that is using it, including Optin Cat. Then go test your forms.

So let me know your results, and get back to me with some working links if the issue persists.

Hoping to hear some good news.

    All the best.

    Hi leesawyzard2023,

If needed, you can turn on the name input field in your optin form by going to the “Input Fields” section of your optin form builder. As shown in this screenshot – https://pasteboard.co/2oOf54pRa2s3.png

If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to get back to us.

    All the best.

Yes, I’ve verified the only required field on my mail chimp list is email.

I have already reset my mail chimp api key, and added it back to the plug in

The name input field is active as shown here, I thought that might have been it previously.

The only way this is giving the success message is if the user is already added in the mail chimp list. Any new joins are given the 400 error.

I’m not sure if you can see this video of this happening, but I’ve tried to note what is happening

    Hi leesawyzard2023,

    Thanks for your reply.

Just to confirm, when you go to MailChimp – Audiences – All Contacts – Settings – Audience fields and |MERGE| tags, the only required field is email? Like this – https://pasteboard.co/WeNXOd9qqLgB.png

Do you have double or single opt-in enabled with MailChimp and Optin Cat? – Here is the setting in Optin Cat – https://pasteboard.co/mDnC2eFIU7D3.png. If there is a discrepancy between having a double opt-in and the other not, then this issue could happen.

If the double opt-in setting is currently on Yes, can you try switching to No and test? Or vice versa.

Have you already selected a list to subscribe to in Optin Cat? In the same place you add the API key. If there is no list set, it might not work.

If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to get back to us.

    All the best.
