After a recent update to Google Analytics by Yoast, I have been getting the following error message:

“Failed to fetch the new data from Google Analytics. Please reauthenticate on the settings page!”

I have tried reauthenticating with both methods (auto and manual) from which I get a message confirming a success authentication. However, the error message appears again a few minutes later.

I took a look at the other post here, but the most recent updates did not solve this problem for me.

  • Here’s what worked for me…

Make sure any ad blocker you have is turned off for the analytics page, then select the Analytics profile for your site and click the “Re-Authenticate with Google” button.

After you’ve pasted the Google code and hit Enter / Return, click “Dashboard” under “Analytics” in the left sidebar of the Admin area.

    Hope this helps.

    Update…

I thought the problem was taken care of, but a couple of days later the error message (“Failed to fetch…”) returned on all the sites.

After spending too much time on this, finally decided to delete the plugin. Bummer.

This is happening to me as well, across all of my sites. For the record, I am hosted with WPEngine.

Happened to me as well, both manual and using authenticate from the setting.

Same thing here, also hosted on WP Engine. Happy to provide further info as needed, team Yoast.

Same problem here. Hoping for the update soon, it’s annoying to see this error across the whole administration.

Same here, but I am hosted on Godaddy.

Checking in with the same problem. Hosted on hostgator, running Genesis.

Same. Running WordPress 4.1 on a DreamHost one-click WP install.

I’m still having similar issues. I’ve also have had loss data for a few different days. This doesn’t seem to happen every time the error message comes up but enough to cause a problem. All my settings seem fine.

I am having the same problem. Following a successful authentication I need to reauthenticate every day. “Failed to fetch the new data from Google Analytics. Please reauthenticate on the settings page!”

I have the same problem. I have it on both https://www.jrothman.com (main site and both blogs), and on https://www.createadaptablelife.com. I’m hosted on Mediatemple.

I’m running 4.1 on createadaptablelife, and the development wordpress on jrothman.

I am tired of reauthenticating every day. What is going on?? Is it ever going to be fixed? If not, I’m eliminating this plugin.

It’s a little disconcerting that the issue hasn’t been resolved as of yet. Perhaps the Yoast team can pop up, acknowledge the bug and post a short update so we can all make/modify our plans. Not too much to ask I don’t believe?

I have the same problem on all 6 of my sites. I re-authenticate and it works for a few days. Then I get the error again. I agree with foreverlearning. Supports needs to let us know what their plan is

I am having the same issues on all of our sites. We have to re-authenticate every few days. Self-hosted on Wired Tree servers.
