I keep getting this alert message in my WordPress dashboard:

“Failed to fetch the new data from Google Analytics. Please reauthenticate on the settings page!”

    I try to reauthenticate.
    1. I click “Re-authenticate with your Google account” on the General Settings tab.
    2. I click to Accept “View your Google Analytics data”
    3. I copy the “success code” from the page that follows.
    4. I paste in the General Settings tab in the “Paste your Google code here:” field.
    5. I click Save Changes.

I get a successful save message, but a few clicks later, the error message reappears.

    Anyone know of a fix?

  • Me too.

I have the same problem here too.

Again, having the same problem here. I’ve entered the code manually, which has disabled the dashboard, but I’m still getting the “Please Authenticate” error.

I’m having the same problem. We use a plugin to update our plugins across sites. So I had this happen.

    160 times.

And we normally enter the UA code manually. Even if I delete it, add the code back, etc., I still get the same warning.

I updated our plugin as others have done and have the same issue of re-authenticating. We were already using the manual UA-code as recommended in the fix. What do I do now?
@taco Verdo, should I attempt to change the settings and save, then change back to manual again?

    Hello all,

It seems this affect us across the world. I ran to this site looking for solution and discovered am not the only one.

I’d inputted the code manually several times, yet the ‘re-authenticating’message continue to appear.

Who will help us solve this problem now?

Same issue here, neither method works. Reverting to previous version.

    Same problem.

    Same issue.

same problem in all my sites??

    Same here as well.

Same problem here. I’m not using multisite.

Manual method doesn’t help. I was already using manual but I tried disabling it and re-adding the UA code. No dice. Same warning.

What’s with all the updates recently? Frequent updates are nice but there’s such a thing as too frequent IMO.

I hope this note doesn’t get lost in the noise.

This message is currently shown to authors (probably all users) and not just users who actually have the capabilities to visit the link. I think you should do a current_user_can() check before blindly displaying the notice.

I hope this doesn’t get lost in the noise.

Same issue here, neither method works.

    Same here…
