I keep getting this alert message in my WordPress dashboard:

“Failed to fetch the new data from Google Analytics. Please reauthenticate on the settings page!”

    I try to reauthenticate.
    1. I click “Re-authenticate with your Google account” on the General Settings tab.
    2. I click to Accept “View your Google Analytics data”
    3. I copy the “success code” from the page that follows.
    4. I paste in the General Settings tab in the “Paste your Google code here:” field.
    5. I click Save Changes.

I get a successful save message, but a few clicks later, the error message reappears.

    Anyone know of a fix?

  • Got this problem to.
In my source code it does not “say allowanchor: true” or something like that as it did in your example.
I am totally new at stuff like this so I do not know if it matters. Just telling to be sure..

Every time I authenticate through Google and paste the code, I then save and the error message switches from telling me to authenticate to telling me to ‘configure’ my GA settings. The only way to do this is to enter in my code manually, but then the error telling me I need to authenticate keeps coming back. Is there any fix for this and is it skewing or missing stats? Thanks in advance for any help from anyone.

Q: I don’t really care about the dashboards, but the annoying warning that comes up on every admin page saying:

Failed to fetch the new data from Google Analytics. Please reauthenticate on the settings page!

… is quite annoying and has got me a few questions from the other admin users on one site.

Would it be possible to have a tickbox somewhere to turn off the dashboard entirely, so that it doesn’t even bother to show the Dashboard (disable Dashboard entirely) if you don’t want it? I currently use a Manual UA only, so if this was even a tickbox that wasn’t available till the manual UA was entered, then I’d be happy with that.

Added to be updated by email.

also have this problem on multiple sites mostly using manually added UA codes. So I am adding to be notified by email as well.

    same issue! ??

    I am ditto-ing tbeecher.

    same issue…

    Same problem.

    +1

@howiej80 you need to select your property in the drop down menu once you’re authenticated.

@guillaume unfortunately, the dropdown menu is grayed out and I am unable to select anything. It seems I am either getting one error or the other

oke waiting for fix this problem ??

    Good Work Team ??

    Same problem

@howiej80 I don’t know, after you click the re authenticate button, paste the google key and save the setting and wait for the refresh it shouldn’t be grayed out. Maybe try a few times to re enter a new key and save to see if it stays that way. Can’t do more sorry, fall back to manual mode if you don’t have any other choices.
