Was a plugin causing the issue now disabled and working as it should be

@leicester38 – Can you tell us what plugin caused the problem, in case someone else has the same issue?

I’m having the same issue, love to know which plugin is causing it.

@lisapats12 – It might be an SEO plugin. Something that removes GET parameters from a URL by redirecting. If you have access to your webserver logs, then generate the Critical CSS and watch the logs. Look for URLs that have “?jb-generate-critical-css=”.

If those requests have error code 301 or 302 instead of 200 then you know the page is being redirected.

If you don’t have an SEO plugin installed, then toggling your plugins on or off while testing Critical CSS generation will hopefully find the plugin that’s interfering.
