Hello! After the wordpress 5.5 update that I did. I am getting a red error box on the backend of my site. In red letters “Failed to initialize plugin:recipe” inclosed in a light pink box. I deactivated all the plugins one by one, and sure enough it is the WP Recipe Maker. It was totally fine before the update. It seems The recipe does show up on my front end. And I can still create a new post and use the plugin as normal. However, I can’t reply to any comments. I can approve them, I just can’t reply to them. It is so weird. Other then this, I haven’t noticed any other issues effected by the error, yet.

Any thoughts? Run across this before?

Very strange. I don’t really see why it would mention “plugin:recipe”.

I’ve tested things with 5.5 and have not experienced any issues like this. Haven’t heard from others with this problem either.

What theme are you using? Do you have the same problem when switching to a default theme (like Twenty Twenty)?

I am using the theme Cookely, by WPZOOM, I already contacted their support, they said they don’t think it is a Theme issue. I switched to Twenty Twenty and didn’t see that error, however, I still can’t reply to comments.

If I deactivate WP Recipe Maker, the error goes away. But I still can’t reply to comments, on either theme.

So the comment problems does not seem to be related to WPRM then?

Could you contact me at [email protected] for further debugging?

I am not sure! haha. Everything was working fine yesterday until the evening, when I started seeing that “Failed to Initialize Plugin:Recipe” error. And it wouldn’t let me respond to comments.

Yep I will email you over there.

Same issue happened for me too .. After wordpress upgrade getting error “Failed to initialize plugin:recipe”

@shanrocks666 are you using a WP Zoom theme as well?

When you check the JavaScript console you can see the full error. In Matt’s case this referenced “wpzRecipeL10n” which is not part of our plugin. I’m assuming wpz refers to WP Zoom.

Yes .. I also use WPZoom theme but not WP Zoom recipe .. How i can solve it. It was not happening before , how after wordpress upgrade error started

It’s a WP Zoom problem. You should be able to confirm that by temporarily switching to a default theme (like TwentyTwenty).

As I mentioned the JavaScript error that’s breaking things references “wpzRecipeL10n” which has something to do with their theme.

    I recommend contacting their support.

Just so you know, I also get the same message, I use WP Zoom (Foodica Theme) and EasyRecipe Plus. So it’s unrelated to Brecht’s plugin. Everything seems to work fine, with no issues replying to comments.

…And just after I typed that, an update for WP Zoom appeared. Update installed, cache cleared, and now error message has disappeared.

Thanks for letting me know, happy to hear they were able to resolve things!
