Got a message that our “Redirection database needs upgrading” and clicked on the blue “Upgrade Database” button. Then got the following error:

Failed to perform query “ALTER TABLE wp_[databasename]_redirection_items ADD title varchar(50) NULL”

I removed the Database name and substituted [databasename] since this is a public forum.

Our database version is 2.3.1 seems there are many newer versions I could select:

    2.3.2
    2.4
    4.0
    4.1
    4.2

Not sure if that will fix the issue. If I select one of those, I get a message “Do not change unless advised to do so!”

So, since I have not been advised to do so, I did not.

We are on Managed WordPress GoDaddy hosting. We are running:
    WordPress 6.1.1
    PHP 7.4
    Redirection 5.3.5

2.3.1 is very old. Did you previously have an old version of the plugin installed?

It is possible an old version of the plugin was installed previously, I am not sure. Should I deactivate the plugin and reinstall it? Would that change the database version? I am not sure how I found the different database versions, or how I determined that we are running 2.3.1. Any advice on updating? Since the button doesn’t work?

    Redirection database needs upgrading
Redirection stores data in your database and sometimes this needs upgrading. Your database is at version +OK and the latest is 4.2.

Please make a backup of your Redirection data: downloading a backup. If you experience any issues you can import this back into Redirection.

Click the "Upgrade Database" button to automatically upgrade the database.

    Can you try version 5.3.6?

Excellent! Updating to 5.3.6 allowed me to update the database and we are now on DB version 4.2. I think we are good! Appreciate the help!
