    I tried to upgrade several times in last month. I tried just now.
    Unfortunately it doesn’t work.

    I just noticed “Failed to write request to temporary file.” in error message above, looks like your installation of WordPress doesn’t have permission to create temporary files.

    I suggest you look at this page and this thread, they’re suggesting several things you can try.

    I contacted my host and they told me I had some backup plugin which left 500 MB of temp files in my backup directory.

    I got the same error for the first time while trying to update a plugin. Clearing out my hosting account’s /tmp directory solved it. It turns out my host has a limit on the total size of temporary files and that limit was being exceeded during the update process, hence the error message. I assume this is what happened to civava and that it is the typical cause for this particular error.
