  • Weird – just tried on sites on another host and it’s the other way around – Dashboard > Updates didn’t work but updating from Plugins did. Hope that might help nailing down the problem?

Same here – updating from Plugins worked. And this was on single site installation; on multisite, it worked just fine via Updates screen on first try.

I’m unable to update from either Updates or Plugins screen, so I tried to download the plugin and got this:

Firefox can’t find the file at https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/backupwordpress.3.6.0.zip.

Clicking the download link on the WP plugin page takes me to a 404 error for https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/backupwordpress.3.6.0.zip

Same issue. 404. Also found site load was painfully slow.

I had the same problem while using the Magazine Basic theme. Switched to TwentyEleven and was able to update on the first try.

Switching themes worked on a second site.

I do not believe this is not an issue with this plugin specifically. The failing downloads sound like an issue on .org, so I’ve brought it up with people who can check that out.

I do have to say, the updates are a bit much. In six months you have done three major releases and nine minors.

There’s a reason WP Core only updates major releases 3 times a year ?? Too many major updates causes update fatigue. I would consider rethinking your release plan. It’s okay to slow down. Rapid development cycles are draining on devs as well as users.

I for one are grateful for the active development. The opposite is worse, there are way too many good plugins out there that have been abandoned and without updates for years (possibly with security issues). Active developers are one of my most important factors when it comes to choosing a plugin. As long as the releases are stable I don’t have a problem with frequent releases.

all working ok for me from updates screen.

Just wanted to share in case it helps anyone else: update wasn’t working on plugins page nor updates for me, and what finally worked was deactivating the plugin, then updating (from plugins page). After update was successful, turned it back on, everything seems fine.

    Same here.

Same here, on every page I maintain.

“deactivating the plugin, then updating (from plugins page). After update was successful, turned it back on, everything seems fine.”

    Works (Y)

    still not working…
