I just updated my blog to 4.0 and now I am essentially unable to do anything without getting a “WordPress Failure Notice.” Each time I try to update a plugin I get this message. I can’t edit published material, add new posts or empty the spam. It also doesn’t let me log out of the site. In the status bar on my browser it reads: “WordPress Failure Notice” when I try to perform any of these actions. And on the page itself it is blank white with the message: “Are you sure you want to do this? Please try again.” each time. In effect, I can’t do anything. These issues did not exist until the update to 4.0.

    Please help.

    Thank you.

    Anyone?

    I’m getting this too.

Thanks for replying. Trying to figure out why this isn’t a widespread issue. I have no idea how to proceed but the blog was fine before the upgrade. I have several posts to publish and no way to do it at the moment.

Kimba what plugins do you have? Maybe we can figure it out that way?

Try downloading WordPress again and delete then replace your copies of everything except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Some uploaders tend to be unreliable when overwriting files, so don’t forget to delete the original files before replacing them.

MacManX – thank you for the reply.

Unfortunately, replacing those files did nothing and I am still faced with the same issue. I’m not even able to disable my plugins to see if that is the issue.

you theme might not compatible with latest version of wordpress. Check with your theme developer and see if they have update coming.

You can force WordPress to disable plugins by moving them out of the /wp-content/plugins/ directory.

If disabling the plugins didn’t make any difference, try switching to the Twenty Fourteen theme to rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

Thank you all for your help. It was the “wp-phpbb bridge” plugin.

    Thanks!
