    When trying to restore, I see the following error on the progress log:

    Moving old directory out of the way…
    WP_Error Object ( [errors] => Array ( [old_move_failed] => Array ( [0] => Could not move old dir out of the way. ) ) [error_data] => Array ( ) )

    Restore failed…

    I’m an amateur and not sure what I can do about that. Any advice?

    Well, reading the code that means that when you pressed restore, there was an old directory detected, but the attempt to move it out of the way failed. Hard to know why that would be without more information.

    The best thing to do is try to restore manually. Get your zip files from wherever they are (on S3, FTP, whatever) and unzip them into the right places…. open each zip file on your computer to see what it contains, and then upload the contents into the correct place (which will be wp-content/plugins or wp-content/themes or just into wp-content depending on which zip file you’re dealing with – there will be a few depending on what you backed up).

    Dear David

    Thank you for very good extra option of this plugin which able it to detect previous installation backups. However, I uploaded all of the previous backups in one session onto updraft folder. Restorinng did not proceed giving the same error as that CreatorsGlory received . Manual restoring the folders via Filezilla did not also work.

    Hi,

    The error that CreatorsGlory reports indicates that a previous restore was done and not cleaned up afterwards. To clean-up manually, remove folders ending in “-old” from the directory wp-content/updraft.

    “Manual restoring the folders via Filezilla did not also work.” – you’ve not given me any specific information to go on there.

    Also, if you need someone to perform the restoration for you, then there are paid restoration packages available in https://updraftplus.com/shop/.
