    1. Environment
      • WordFence 8.0.1
      • WordPress 6.7.1
    2. Problem
      • Failed to use RESTAPI tool like m2w to upload/update articles
    3. Debugging
      • I developed m2w to create/update articles via WordPress REST API?. It worked well for nearly 2 years.
      • In the past days, I found it’s always failed when I try to use m2w to create/update articles.
      • I checked Wordfence. No related block records were found.
      • I added some rules about WordPress REST API? in the Cloudflare dashboard of my domain so that the security features of Cloudflare would not be applied. Failed.
      • I turned off wordfence and try an article update via m2w. Success!
      • I turned on wordfence and try an article update via m2w. Failed!
      • Test many rounds. The result is reproducible.
    4. Conclusion
      • Wordfence cause the failure of m2w usage.

    Any suggestions?

    Hi @benszconan,

If there are no block records in Live Traffic?when the plugin isn’t working, that should be a strong indicator Wordfence isn’t blocking m2w but I appreciate deactivating the plugin has an effect in your tests. I would still try enabling Learning Mode?to see if m2w is allowed to run as normal under these conditions. If it does, does it still fail when that mode is turned off again afterwards?

Finally, did you try at any point m2w and Wordfence as the only 2 plugins enabled? A conflict between Wordfence and another could appear fixed when Wordfence is disabled, when in fact it’s another issue. Our free Wordfence Central product requires successful connectivity to your site’s REST API, so we don’t deny access to it in the Wordfence plugin by design.

    Many thanks,
    Peter.
