    Hi there,

There are a few things you do to prevent this type of behavior.

Consider your account settings under WooCommerce ? Settings ? Accounts & Privacy. Make them as strict as would be convenient for your store. Also check WP Admin ? Settings ? General and if Membership : Anyone can register is checked (if it’s not required, you can uncheck it).

You can also implement a captcha on the checkout page using reCaptcha for WooCommerce or a similar alternative from the www.ads-software.com repository.

Everything is set correctly already, no possible improvement in core wordpress / woo
and a captcha for checkout is a ridiculous bad idea (no offense, it’s just the idea)
I found this but cannot find any review anywhere, do you know it ?

    thank you for your replies.

Captcha could take the form of a honeypot – so there’s nothing *active* for the customer to fill in on the checkout page even though captcha checks are still being run in the background.

    Alternatively, you could also consider:

As for the 3rd party plugin by ignitewoo: We don’t have any direct experience with that plugin and I’d recommend getting in touch with their support team directly to check whether it meets the project requirements.

Thank you so much, I will keep looking and report here if I find the best solution.
I will try stripe radar also, but I have another problem:

I automatically add to the cart a free product, so bots can checkout without paying for the order as the product price is $0
Do you know how I could stop them from checking out with a cart of $0 ?

    thanks again for all.

As @eastofwest mentioned above, unchecking the “Anyone can register” option and using a captcha plugin like ReCaptcha for WooCommerce would ensure that users are required to register, as well as pass the captcha test before they can checkout. That would be valid even when the order total is $0.

    I hope this helps!

hello, nobody can register on my wordpress installs, they can only create an account when they buy something.

And its so wrong for anybody who knows how to manage a shop, to create more problems by adding captcha and any other barriers to purchase…

    There must be better solutions.

    Thanks anyway.

    Thanks for that, celsta!

Right at the bottom of that exceptionally long thread is a link to the outcome, a solution, and steps for moving forward, which I link here for reference:

In light of the above, I’ll also go ahead and mark this thread as closed.
