Many images are broken on older Safari versions. My understanding is that the plugin should be using fallback jpeg versions rather than send webp to older Safari versions. Report number is JKUHIYOP. How can I make sure webp versions arent served to older versions of Safari?

I want to update my post to add that, things are changing on an hourly basis. Some images that were earlier serving webp to old Safari browsers, now show those images but others that were fine before are broken now. I have cleared caches, both through host and lightspeed.

you have other cache system in place

some functions like guest mode , webp , mobile cache , js/css combine , only works with LSCache engine , other cache engine will break them.

Thanks for your reply. What other cache system is installed? I don’t see one, but perhaps it comes from the host, Flywheel. Does turning off webp break the site? How do I turn that off?

in that line x-cache: HIT , this shows some cache system is in active

you can go to image optm setting -> webp replacement , set it to OFF and then purge this cache.

I understand now that I can’t use LS cache with my host, Flywheel, which already provides caching of its own. However, when I turn off LS Cache on my staging site, to test what will happen on my live site, the images are still missing on old Safari. I tried turning LS Cache back on and purging, but that doesn’t work either. I also turned off webp in image optimization settings and then purged. Still webp. I also tried clicking “Use Original Files” under Optimization tools, then purging, but the images are still served as webp. I purged the cache on Flywheel as well after trying each step. Images still broken in Safari.

There’s an issue with domain key on staging. Do I need to re-validate domain key on staging to deactivate? I requested a new one for staging but it hasn’t come through. I really need to understand how to deactivate properly before trying this on the live site. Thank you.

I was just editing my reply above, I just tried that on my staging site, and it didn’t do anything.

what happens if you just disable the plugin completely ?

Please pardon my mistake, when I emptied cache on Flywheel after turning off webp, it was not emptying the staging site’s cache. I think I know what to do now. If I have anymore trouble when I try on the live site, I’ll let you know.
