Increased stars to 3, due to PR leeching link in lower right hand side of screen and complete lack of templates.

    Original Post:

This is the third “ComingSoon” plugin I have tried tonight and each one doesn’t allow contributors, authors, editors to login to wp-admin. This one however has a selection box to allow you to set user level unlike the other 2 I have tried. However it fails to work.

I’m running a fresh WP install with X theme, Ubermenu, Jetpack, Updraft backups, Mailpoet, All in One SEO, Bulletproof Security, Contact form 7, Contact Form DB, Redirection, Simple share buttons.

All of which have no interaction with WP-Users…

What’s the point in a coming soon plugin that doesn’t allow admins, designers, and authors to all work on a new website? Is it the administrators job to post articles?

Additionally in Firefox 30.0, I set a background image and “stretched” it to fit, which looks fine until you hover over the page and then it gets the border around the image (outside edge of browser) and scroll bars appear. Almost like when you mouse over an image on a blog and the image highlights to show you can click it and be taken to the post and/or image post.
This doesn’t seem to happen in other browsers, so I’m not sure if it’s just localized to my Firefox plugins or something. However I’ve not had this happen to any images on other websites in Firefox.

    site removed

This is solved: It was Buffer causing the “share image” button to appear off page around 900px below the bottom of page and 20px to the right of the page.

    Hello.
Our plugin allow you to select user roles, that will be able to see site on development stage. More over – if you are logged-in – you will be able to see the site. Can you please explain – “What’s the point in a coming soon plugin that doesn’t allow admins, designers, and authors to all work on a new website?” – this one?

And thirdly the link in the bottom is a bit sneaky. It’s only function is PR leaching. As it’s simply not big enough for anybody to read, so it’s hardly likely this is a way to generate more sales and “keep the plugin in development”.

Catch 22 – “What’s the point in a coming soon plugin that doesn’t allow admins, designers, and authors to all work on a new website?”

You have to be logged in before WordPress can check your User Role and tell if you are an Admin, Author, Editor…

Not sure how the Coming Soon plugin works, but BulletProof Security MMode works based on IP addresses. Ie you add/whitelist the IP addresses that you want to allow to view the site normally. Also BPS has FrontEnd and BackEnd Maintenance Modes. If you only put the site in FrontEnd MMode then the backend/wp-admin area is still accessible to anyone for logging into the Dashboard.

I assume all other Maintenance Mode plugins like Coming Soon do something very similar since you cannot check a User Role unless someone is already logged in and the most logical/best choice checking condition would be to check by an IP address.

But we also have functionality to allow access by IP address, so you can:
    1. Select user roles that will be able to see site
    2. Select certain users that will be able to see site
    3. If you want to give access to user, that is not logged-in – you can enter his IP address to white list – this all is in our plugin.
Just trying to understand – where is a problem with our software?

@coming soon – I think garrat just misinterpreted how WP User Roles work in general. ??

If I had a buck for everytime I misinterpreted the intended purpose of a pre-built WP function I would be rich. LOL.

Maybe, as I see other issue – with bg image – was also resolved, and was not in our plugin. So, I guess, our situation is not so bad ??

Very nice looking Maintenance mode designs (screenshots) and some great features in your plugin. Hope you do not think I was trying to hijack this thread – just wanted to point out the obvious User Role issue with BPS. The BPS plugin does not specialize in Maintenance Mode like your plugin does so obviously if someone is looking for a full featured Maintenance Mode plugin then your plugin would be the best choice. ??

No, sure, I don’t think so, thnx for trying to resolve situation with correct roles usage, hope mr. garratt will find our what he need.

It’s not letting me see admin area after login using an editor account. So something must be conflicting with it.

    try here -> site
you [ redacted, do not post userid and passwords in these forums ]

This account is a contributor and I have set “Allow contributors and higher access to administration”

Screen says: “You need to be an admin to do that”

Besides the point, I can still login. I am just restricted access to wp-admin.

I can login, then if I refresh the homepage I can see the actual homepage with admin bar enabled. However clicking “add post” or “view dashboard” wp-admin screen says “you need permission to do that”.

    Hello.
https://myfitness.net.au/ – it say “server not found” when I try to open this site.
“Besides the point, I can still login. I am just restricted access to wp-admin.” – you mean that our plugin does not restrict access for some not standard wordpress login’s? You use wp-login.php page for login?

must have just been a short downtime, it’s up again.

yes I use wp-login, typically I just type site.com/wp-admin/ which redirects to login anyway.
