We received some fatal errors from several of our sites with this plugin installed. The sites did not go down and the actual error logs are showing no errors. Just wondering if this is a bug in the plugin or what could have happened to cause that? Below is a snippet of what the error was.

    Error Level: E_ERROR
    Message: Uncaught Error: Class ‘Fatal_Error_Notify_Updater’

    Hey @mckenzieussery ,
    ?
?We have had 5 reports of this same error today with our other plugin, WP Fusion….. but WP Fusion hasn’t been updated in almost two weeks. And we’ve had one other report from Fatal Error Notify, and that hasn’t been updated in two months. Both plugins use the same automatic update system.

Can you think of anything else on your site that you might have updated today or yesterday?

We’ll be checking with everyone else as well to see if we can find a pattern. It’s super strange that so many people would run into the same error at the same time, when there hasn’t been an update to any of our plugins.

    Thanks
    Jack

We did not make any major updates on any of our websites with that plugin installed yesterday.

Please keep us updated on the issue or if any pattern has been found by others!

    Thanks for the info ??

We are on it, and are going to try to get it resolved as quickly as possible…. but just FYI it may take a few days.

We’re now up to 12 customers who have reported the same error across both our plugins, and they all started at almost exactly the same time. In most cases they didn’t install any updates or make any changes. We can’t reproduce it on any of our sites.

So it seems related to a hosting configuration update… or maybe even some shared security package which has incorrectly identified our updater as a security vulnerability and disabled / deleted the file. It’s happening on WP Engine, LiquidWeb, and WPMUDEV.

We don’t want to go and release updates to the updater code without knowing what the root cause is because it probably won’t help, and could make things worse.

So anyway… it is a top priority for us, but it’s likely we won’t have a resolution until sometime next week. Just FYI. I’ll keep this thread updated with progress. Apologies for the inconvenience ??

    @mckenzieussery ,

We never figured out what was causing it… it seems to be related to some kind of platform update on Google Cloud servers. Maybe related to OPCache.

But anyway we’ve just released an update to FEN Pro, v1.8.1, so that the updater will be loaded on every page— not just the admin. That will fix the error.

You should see it show up shortly via automatic update.

    Cheers
    Jack
