    Hi,

These links (both from art19.com) are getting a false positive response:

  • Hi @asafm7,

I have tested the two links on my end, together with couple of more links in a same page and could replicate the same report, but only for art19 links, the other working ones were reported properly as working.

This can sometimes happen, unfortunately, when the destination blocks the checks from their end which makes BLC see those links as broken.

From the Broken Links list you can mark those links as “Not Broken” and if you want to exclude art19 links from the checks you can add it to Settings > Link Checker > Which Links To Check > Exclusion list.

    Cheers,
    Predrag

    Thanks.

But if in the future these links will break for real, will they pop up again as broken?

Maybe a “snooze” option will be useful?

And/or, keep checking periodically these links who were marked as “Not Broken” and if anything in the response changes (besides the response code itself) pop them back again as broken?

I guess the snooze option will be easier to implement and will cover more cases.

    Thanks anyway.

The plugin is great and very helpful!

    HI @asafm7 ,

Unless you use the Forced recheck option under Settings > Link Checker > Advanced > Forced recheck, the links shouldn’t popup again as broken.

The “Force Recheck” will check the entire website from scratch. Other than that, once the URLs are marked as “Not Broken” they shouldn’t get listed again.

Are you noticing such cases on your side? Please do let us know so that it would help us to check further about what further improvements could be looked regarding this.

    Kind Regards,
    Nithin

    Sorry if I wasn’t clear.

The thing is that if I mark a link manually as “Not Broken”, I DO want it to be checked again in the future – as it might break for real sometime.

Hopefully, the question/issue is more clear now?

    Hi @asafm7,

Even if you mark the links as “Not Broken”, you can have them be checked again in the as by using the Forced recheck option under Settings > Link Checker > Advanced > Forced recheck option. Once you click on the button, it will make the plugin empty its link database and recheck the entire site from scratch.

    Hi @wpmudev-support9 ,

Thanks. I’m aware of this option. But manual re-checking isn’t optimal, as you have to remember to do it. Also, it will reset all kinds of other settings or manual actions that you wouldn’t necessarily want to reset.

So, what I’m suggesting is something else – one of the 2 options:
    1. Somehow, automatically recheck links marked as “Not Broken”
    OR
    2. In the first place, making the “Not Broken” option more like a “Snooze” option – only hide the link for a while, and pop it back after a defined period of time.

    Maybe you could consider it.

    Thanks again,
    Asaf
