Fancybox pop up opening, but empty

The fancybox pop up opens but the video doesn’t load into it. There’s no js errors in the console.
This stopped working about a week ago.
tried downgrading to 1.6 but the problem remains. My theme links to a local copy of fancybox.pack. If I remove it the pop ups don’t work at all and the videos link to their youtube page/local video file.
Help!
