• Really impressed with the work done to this. It brings WordPress up to the standard of the rest of the web, if not exceeding it. I haven’t found a legit review yet that gives any bad points. They are peoples fears, lack of knowledge or lack of skill.

This will revolutionise WP and the web. It opens huge opportunities to current WP, to clear the WP world of the amateur rubbish that floods the system and gives WP it’s bad name among devs.

Brilliant job WP team, keep it coming, keep modernising!

  • Hi Rick,

Can you provide some links to sites you’ve built, please? From what I can tell, more experienced developers have the wisdom to know that this will be a catastrophic mess if this is integrated into core.

I have noticed quite a trend of people who give this 5 stars having very, very basic sites where a drag-and-drop editor like this may be a good idea. But more experienced developers who do this professionally and who build far more complex sites with CPTs, CFs, etc. can see this coming a mile away.

    Thanks.

    Rick,

You are joking, aren’t you? Or perhaps you haven’t actually looked at the code?

Gutenberg’s architecture is built on HTML comments, for goodness’ sake. There is no way that that is going to give it a good name among devs. It’s like going back to the 1990s.

That architecture is also why so many people report that Gutenberg trashes their sites. It’s pretty much inevitable. What’s under the hood is simply incapable of doing the job being asked of it.
