Abysmal support with ridiculous refund policy

We purchased the pro version of the plugin for a client site about a year ago. We encountered multiple bugs in the plugin and the author was originally responsive. Then we encountered something larger and they went MIA. Never heard from them again so we stopped using the plugin entirely and switched to something else. Yesterday we received an email that our license had been renewed. Prior to this email, we had not received a single notification about an upcoming invoice or renewal. About 1 hour after our card was charged for the renewal, I contacted them to request a refund and they respond that their refund policy is that I only have 14 days AFTER THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE to request a refund. IE, even though I’m requesting a refund of this renewal charge about 1 hour after the charge hit, that’s too late. I should have requested the refund within 14 days of the original purchase.
This is a blatant money grab for Jon and whomever else is on their team. They will bill you for a renewal without warning you that the renewal is coming, hoping that you won’t realize, and will then fall back on their “14 day” policy to refuse you a refund of your renewal fees.
In short, ridiculous. Find another plugin with an author with some sort of integrity. Because this one isn’t it. Avoid.
