FAQ modules’ questions/titles appear and disappear instantly

    Hi,

    Thanks in advance for your help with this.

    On my site’s FAQ pages the questions/titles appear for a microsecond with the ‘+’ collapsed then disappear and only the answer blocks show up.

    I have the WordPress Highend Theme set up which lets me make FAQ modules and I simply insert [faq category=”frontier-grant” orderby=”menu_order”] in my page and the FAQs show up as questions which are collapsable .

    Collapse-o-matic used to work just fine until recently when it flagged that I was running on a dated PHP and asked me to update to 7.0 or higher. I have done this, and unfortunately it didn’t fix the issue. So I also deleted the plugin and reinstalled collapse-o-matic. Now the message in the plugins section no longer mentions my PHP but the issue is still not resolved.

    Hello.

    Hmmm. OK, so just to make sure we understand the issue:
    1. the hidden content is visible for a second while the page finishes loading

    2. you updated php and re-installed the plugin, but no joy:

    Now the message in the plugins section no longer mentions my PHP but the issue is still not resolved.

    However, at the test link you provided, we are not seeing any accordion action at all. Are you certain the only issue is the ‘flash’ before page finishes loading?

    Also: the collapse elements on the page use a plugin called show/hide collapse expanded. This is not our plugin…

    Hi,

    Thanks for responding. Here’s some clarification:

    1. No. The Questions are supposed to be visible on the site and then each Question has a hidden Answer which is supposed to be collapsible. When I load the page for a brief second I can see the Questions only, as should be. Then all the Questions list disappears only to reveal ALL of the Answers without their Questions.

    2.I did update my PHP to 7.0 and re-installed the collapse-o-matic plugin, that is correct. There is no accordion at all because the questions disappear, only to reveal the answers which are supposed to be hidden and the accordion would only be there if the questions were still visible.

    Any ideas?

    Well, we might have some ideas if this was our plugin–however these accordion elements are not using collapse-o-matic at all. You can test this by deactivating collapse-o-matic and checking for any change.

    It seems the plugin you want to check is the Show/Hide Collapse Expanded plugin as mentioned in our previous post.

    Let us know if you get this resolved or if you would like us to assist further.
